FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
UACO’s DC VISIT MAKES HISTORY
The UACO leadership team, led by President Samba Johm, Vice President Banny Doumbia, Secretary General Moses Lukwago, Vending Committee Chairman Mutarr Jallow, and Edward Etim of Africa One Media made history when they travelled to DC to meet with several African Ambassadors on June 15, 2015. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss a five point action plan that UACO has developed to create a platform that will facilitate communication between the Embassies and the African Diaspora.
The UACO team met with:
H.E. Sheikh Omar Faye, the Ambassador of the Republic of the Gambia
H.E. Ernest Ndabashinze, the Ambassador of the Republic of Burundi
H.E. Daouda Diabate, the Ambassador of the Republic of Cote d’Ivorie
H.E. Babacar Diagne, the Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal
The team made a brief stop at the Embassy of the Republic of Uganda to deposit a letter of invitation to H.E. Olivia Wonekha, the Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda.
The five point plan discussed included:
- Inviting the ambassadors to the 15th All Africa Cultural Festival in Detroit.
- Building relationships between African embassies and the State of Michigan
- Solidifying the relationships between the embassies and the citizens of their countries residing in Michigan
- Exploring trade and commerce opportunities between Michigan and African countries
- Discussing African matters that concern the African Diaspora
The meetings were open and cordial. UACO extends its gratitude to H.E. Ambassador Faye who welcomed the idea with enthusiasm. He also spared time from his busy schedule to facilitate the meetings with the Burundi and Senegal ambassadors. We also thank him for providing the UACO delegation with breakfast and lunch. We also would like to thank the H.E. Diagne for welcoming us at his residence and providing us with dinner.
H.E. Ambassador Faye and H.E. Ambassador Diagne have graciously accepted our invitation to attend the 15th All Africa Cultural Festival in Detroit. H.E. Ambassador Diabate also has accepted our invitation but will be represented by his deputy because he will be in Cote D’Ivoire.
